One year I had a pair of ski boots that were impossible to put on. I would get half my foot in and would have to push with all my strength to get the rest of it in all the way. It was a pretty painful experience. So first and foremost, make sure your feet can easily slide into your boot.
Next, your choice should be snug and comfortable. Part of that comes with picking the right size and the other part is the design of the boot. You are going to be in your ski boot for hours and hours.
It’s important that you like the way it feels. Consider your own foot too. Some women have wider feet, some have narrow and others have high arches and high insteps.
Also, it’s extremely important that your buckles stay fastened the entire time. If they are constantly coming undone you can seriously injure your ankle. Again, this is something I’ve experienced.
You’ll want a ski boot that can keep snow and moisture out too. Having damp and cold feet is a sure fire way to make the day not fun.
Lastly, match the boot to your skill level; this can be determined by looking at the flex rating. Beginners should look for a flex under 60, intermediates between 60 and 80 and advanced should look for over 80.
